Spare Key
Yesterday morning Kylee locked me out of the house. Yep, it finally happened. I went outside to get the groceries out of my truck and she flipped the deadbolt. My purse, keys, and phone were inside. I kept asking her to unlock the door. She tried to open the door but didn't know that she had to undo the deadbolt. I went to a neighbor's house and called Ryan. Thankfully he was working relatively close to home and it only took about 20 minutes for him to make the drive. The whole time, I was sitting in my front entry listening to Kylee and Nolan scream bloody freakin murder. I felt so bad, they didn't understand. When Ryan finally made it and we opened the front door, Kylee was laying on the ground in front of the door crying so hard her hair was soaked in sweat. Thankfully I had just put Nolan in his booster seat because I was going to get him something to eat. So I didn't have to worry that he was roaming the house getting into something that would hurt him. So even though they were sooooo upset while I was outside, I wasn't too worried about their safety. Especially because I know Kylee never left the front door since I was talking to her through it. My friend Nicole had suggested a while back that I put a spare key out because she knew this day was coming and it came. Needless to say, there is now spare key out ;-) For all of you with little ones at home - I highly suggest doing the same!

Told ya so!! What a stinker!
Oh NO! We have done this on a few occasions - and THANK GOD for the doggie door! Kyan just climbs right in and unlocks the door for us! Such a life saver!
Not a bad idea though to get the spare key out!
Geeeez, sista- I almost had a little knot in my throat picturing little Kylee on the ground crying that hard. Totally scary- but glad it worked out ok.
My sister used to be a nanny for a family & accidentally locked the little girl in her car @ the gas station while it was running (thank God- the air was on, since it was SUMMER)- and my sister thought she was going to get fired, and she was totally devastated!
It all worked out, but lesson learned.
This is both funny (until poor Kylee was crying) and scarey. I don't even think we have a house key made, since we just go in and out of the garage without locking that door. I may have to get one, or pray that I fit through the doggie door. I think I would have a panic attack, maybe even broke a window.
