Little miss Kylee has been picking up in the speech department finally. It was bound to happen eventually, even if a little late. We've been advised not to say "can you say...?" anymore because it just teaches her how to imitate sound, not to use it functionally or spontaneously on her own. Though it's been difficult to axe that completely, we've definitely cut back. She doesn't often offer a word on her own, but has been doing it a little more than she was a few months ago. I read to her ALL THE TIME. She loves her books and always wants me to read her a story. She's been pointing to items and saying the word out loud every once in a while. There are only a few things that she knows but I'll take it. And she just started giving kisses last week! For the first time ever, mommy gets kisses! It's probably because she sees Nolan giving kisses. He's a lover. And she's getting better about giving hugs when asked. I'm still working on getting her to wave and say hi/bye. Nolan is waving and saying hi already (plus mama, dada, and vroom), so I would imagine she'll pick it up from him shortly. Here is a list of things that she can say:
Words that she says clearly:
mama
dada
baby
up
uh oh
pee pee
Words that she says partially:
cracker (kaka)
kitty (kiki)
car (cah)
please (peas)
cheese (eese)
vroom (oom)
ball (baw)
bath (bah)
binkie (beas)
jump (ga)
all gone (agaaah)
yes (es)
stop (op)
juice (juju)
pillow (poof poof)
meow (ow)
moo (ooo)
woof woof (oof oof)
move (ove)
down (dow)
hi (ha)
balloon (boon)
poop (oop)
tweet tweet (tis tis)
Words that she can sign:
more
please
milk
star
I'll continue doing the sign language until she's caught up. It's a great supplement and she thinks it's fun!

Great job Kylee! A little extra help never hurt anyone and it looks like it is doing wonders for her! That is awesome for both you and her!
im always amazed at how parents know what the kids are saying....im clueless and the mom is like "he wants water" huh? i didnt hear any of those words!
im glad she is catching up! Youre right, I think that with nolan doing stuff she's pick it up easy!
Yay! For Kylee! I'm glad to see that she is starting to say some words. I read back on a few posts and saw that she was getting therapy to help with her speech. Good for you guys for being so proactive with her. Again, congratulations Kylee!
That is awesom!!!! She is doing so well! I am so happy that she is giving her Mommy kisses now, I bet that is the best :)
good job kylee!!! im so glad u were able to get the help....and i like the words tht sound all cute and only usually mommys knw the meaning...its cute and unique...kisses to kylee!
That is awesome. Sounds like everything is working out for you both. Jayla has a lot of partial words too. Only Daddy and Mommy can understand those, but it beats the communication barrier along with those tantrums. Great job Miss Kylee, what fast progress you have made!!
YAYYY for Kylee- that is awesome! Wow, I just realized, after reading this post- that we always say, "Can you say?..." Ok, maybe we should cut that as well.
Camden points to things all the time, so we try to say the word so she can learn it. So far, she says: Mama, Dada & Nana.
I think you're right- Nolan will probably be a great influence on her, especially for the Lovin'! (I think he needs to come over & teach Camden ASAP.) : )
