Instead of doing a birthday party for the kids this year, we decided to take them camping. They love it so much anyway, and really at this age a birthday party is still more for the parents to socialize and not so much for the kiddos. So why not do for them what they love instead? We went up near Payson, where Ryan's going to be elk hunting in November. It was so beautiful! But it hadn't rained in quite a while and it was very windy so there was blowing dust and dirt everywhere ;-( It did put a little bit of a damper on the trip but the kids still had a blast of course.

my camera sucks! can't wait to get a new one

for real - both kids looked like this the whole trip. The dirt was constantly blowing in our faces ;-( thankfully the toy hauler has a shower!

even poor Bella, this was about an hour after we got there

mama was playing baseball with little miss kylee

happy helper

both kids love daddy's bow and kept fighting over who's turn it was

they had lots of fun with uncle evan's .22 rifle

look at the concentration in his eyes!

she thinks she's a princess - probably because daddy treats her like one

we were supposed to stay a 3rd day but Nolan came down with a nasty stomach bug and destroyed almost every blanket we had and was reduced to wearing Kylee's clothes because he ruined all he had left. Needless to say, we came home a day early

Awww that stinks he got sick :( I'm sure despite the dust and wind they loved it!!
It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. We just went camping last week. :) Hope all is well with you. I have been very neglectful with my blog lately.
Mannn, you are not kidding- Nolan is one focused mini-hunter! I hope he's feeling better.
I think that was awesome you did the trip in place of a B-Day party. We are thinking along the same lines for our kids, especially with their dates close like your kiddos.
We DID do that 3 day (or weekend) potty training. It's from our Baby Wise book series, and I SWEAR by those authors/their books, they really KNOW their child psychology!!
We stuck to: LOTS of liquids, consistency (putting her on potty every 40 min. or so), REWARDS/celebration, & ONLY diapers while she sleeps. I just told myself, NO MATTER WHAT, we were not looking back. Even if we were frustrated as heck, we were NOT putting her in diapers during the day again!
