Inspired
There was a fantastic story in the news this morning... a woman went shopping at Fry's and bought $160 worth of items, some of them non-food. She used manufacturer coupons and her Fry's card and walked away paying $ .10! Yes, 10 CENTS! Several months ago I had decided to try to use coupons and after looking through the paper didn't find any coupons for anything that I buy so I gave up. I'm guessing I may have to be a little more flexible on brands, but I'm going to try again. I can't believe with a little time and effort, that's it possible to walk away with that many items and pay that little. That's amazing. This particular lady runs a business that has something to do with helping people coupon shop so she's definitely an expert at making this work. But I am now determined to do my best to at least save more money by coupon shopping. Apparently, the best bet is to always shop with a discount card, use coupons, and go on a double coupon savings day. Hmmmmm, I'll have to update you guys on how this goes in a few months. I need some time to find the coupons I'll use!

My friend Melanie (old neighbor) does this. If you go to her house on a Wednesday or Sunday she has all her coupons and ads laid out and plans her route of where she is going to shop. No clue how she does this with 6 kids, etc but she does and is good at it. She said she has saved over 75% of her grocery bill at one time. I tried it but gave up quickly. Let me know if you figure this out because I would love to do the same thing.
This is going to sound funny, but a lot of Mormon (LDS) people are really good at this and actually teach each other how to do this! LOL! How do I know this right? Well, my in-laws are Mormon and I have been to several LDS functions with them! It is pretty amazing what they can buy with little to no money! I wish I was that good, but really haven't tried too hard! Let me know if you find any good deals out there! Good Luck!
dude that was my new years resolution - have I used any coupons since? only 1 - 1 that was attached to a bottle of advil i got.
I love a good bargain, but I am with you-- seems like the coupons never apply to me?? Maybe I will try to be more flexible as well. I do love the cheaper Frys & Costco brands, though. Michael's dad is a manager at Frys so we get his 10% employee discount- LOVE it!
This is funny cuz seriously I just got done looking through the safeway add that came in our mail and FINALLY there is some coupons I would use. I also tried this a few time and no luck on any of the coupons, nothing I would use or eat. It would be nice though, we spend a forture at the grocery store. I am a good bargain shopper on other things though. Let me know if it starts to work for you. If it does then you will be my motivation to try again!
Good luck Colleen, I don't have the patience to deal with coupons and storing the stuff that is stock piled. Keep us posted!
